Alpiq InTec increases energy efficiency in hotels and pools

More energy efficiency and reduced electricity costs thanks to state-of-the-art building technology from Alpiq InTec: three reference projects from the hotel and indoor pool sector show that the sums add up.

Alpiq InTec supports its customers in the construction and conversion of buildings – based on state-of-the-art systems. Taken as a whole, the measures implemented make a vital contribution to increasing energy efficiency. This is evidenced by the following three reference projects for hotel and pool projects in the Bernese Oberland and Tessin.

Air-conditioning and sanitation solution for Hotel Victoria-Jungfrau in Interlaken

The Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa in Interlaken is saving energy with its new solution for air-conditioning and hot water and has cut its electricity bill by over CHF 40,000 a year. The energy-efficient concept was drawn up by the specialists at Alpiq InTec West AG in Bern. The modular system was implemented in cooperation with the international centre of excellence for energy efficiency and BMS-Energietechnik AG in Wilderswil. The air-conditioning and sanitation installation was completed within a short space of time and without disrupting the running of the hotel.

Kurhaus Cademario Hotel & Spa: efficient, quiet building technology

The Kurhaus Cademario Hotel & Spa was built exactly 100 years ago and completely renovated in late 2013. The prestige 4-star hotel now has 82 rooms, two restaurants, two pools, a 2200 square-metre spa complex and extensive grounds including breathtaking views over Lake Lugano. Alpiq InTec Ticino SA planned and largely installed all electrical, heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and sanitation systems required for the conversion. Special attention was paid to energy efficiency; for example, energy storage systems were fitted to cope with power surges. The heat pump is also insulated, meaning it generates so little noise that a solarium could be placed directly above the service room.

High-performance electrical installations at Splash & Spa in Rivera

The Splash & Spa water park in Rivera, which opened in 2013, is one of the most modern in Europe and one of the most advanced in terms of energy efficiency. In conjunction with third parties, Alpiq InTec Ticino SA fitted the heavy and weak current system. What makes the system special is the main switchgear system, which is among the highest performing in Tessin, with its two 4000 ampere inputs. It is simple to operate using a cutting-edge control system to enable efficient control and monitoring – and, of course, loads of fun on the waterslides and in the 30-metre wave pool.
