Aare-Tessin Ltd. for Electricity (Atel) has appointed Dr. Claus-Eric Gärtner as the new manager of its "Northern Europe Region" business unit, which is responsible for Atel's entire energy business with customers in Germany and Benelux. Gärtner is assuming his new post on 1 April 2001 as successor to Rainer P. Vogt, who will be taking charge of a major internal organisation project.
Claus-Eric Gärtner, aged 44, has been with Atel since 1998. He was Marketing Manager for Germany and established Atel Energie AG in Offenburg, a marketing operation that he will continue to head. Before joining Atel, he worked three years as production manager at a German electrical metal smelting company, and has eight years' international experience in the steel industry as a marketing manager and management consultant.
