Alpiq withdraws from the retail market in Italy

As part of the ongoing restructuring programme, Alpiq is planning to liquidate Energit S.p.A., thus completing its withdrawal from the SME business in Italy.

The Board of Directors of Energit S.p.A., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Alpiq Italia S.r.l. with registered office in Cagliari, has convened a General Meeting of Shareholders to vote on the liquidation of the company, which is active in the Italian retail market. At the same time a consultation procedure regarding the company's 69 employees has been launched with the trade unions.

Energit supplies electricity to some 25,000 small and medium sized customers in Italy and posted revenue of around EUR 100 million in 2011.
