Spreetal gas-fired combined-cycle power station
By acquiring the Spreetal power station, Alpiq has gained its first production capacities in Germany. The facility is situated in the Sustec industry park in Spreetal, some 100 kilometers north of Dresden. Alpiq purchased the power station in 2008, converting it over the course of one year and completing the work in 2009. The gas turbine, steam turbine, boiler, burner and measuring/control systems were modernised and converted for eco-friendly natural gas. The facility has been generating electricity since the autumn of 2009.
