As a privileged partner, Alpiq is acting as the first sponsor of the pioneering, innovative project for a high-tech alpine hut in the Monta Rosa massif.

Alpiq supports innovative project

The project for a new hut on Monte Rosa is based on the principle of sustainable development, in keeping with the values to which Alpiq is committed: energy efficiency and the use of new renewable energies.

Alpiq has taken it upon itself to ensure the reliable, sustainable supply of energy in Western Switzerland. And it has done so in a decisive phase in which far-reaching political decisions need to be made for Switzerland's electricity supplies: improvements in energy efficiency, the development of renewable energy sources, and the construction of new large-scale power stations.

The new Monte Rosa hut is part of this strategy, since it addresses two fundamental aspects of Switzerland's energy future: energy efficiency and new renewable energy sources. The new hut will be 90% self-sufficient in terms of energy thanks to solar radiation. A range of innovations developed for this project will also be incorporated in buildings in the lowlands, and in so doing provide new architectural momentum.
