Alpiq is planning to build a modern gas-fired combined-cycle power plant in the small commune of Monchy-au-Bois, some 180 kilometers north of Paris.
Alpiq has founded the company 3CA ("Centrale à Cycle Combiné de l'Artois") for the purpose of planning, building and operating the power plant. The power plant is scheduled to go into operation in 2013. During the 30- to 36-month construction phase, up to 300 employees will work on the power plant.
The company has opened an information office in Monchy-au-Bois to engage in dialogue with local residents.
