Mike von Grünigen’s Junior Race Ski Camp with Alpiq support

20 ardent young skiers, girls and boys from all over Switzerland, made their way on 4 October 2009 to Zermatt at the foot of the Matterhorn. Their challenge: To train like the professionals – downhill skiing on the glacier, improve their techniques, followed by individual video analysis and stamina excercises. For five full days. That was exhausting, but was great fun. The intensive training had been made possible by Michael von Grünigen, the Swiss ski racing idol from the 1990s. "Earlier I received a great deal of encouragement and support myself and hence I would like to pass on my experience and knowledge to the youngsters." And with a personality of the calibre of Michael von Grünigen, the 9 to 14 year-olds were naturally highly motivated to show their idol what they were capable of.

"Thank goodness for sponsors"

In order to offer the youngsters and their parents an attractive price/performance package, Michael von Grünigen needs support. "Thank goodness we have sponsors who actively help us. Hence we will once again next year be able to organize another Ski Race Camp", says Michael von Grünigen in obvious appreciation of his partner. Alpiq was naturally delighted to be of assistance. As a token of their appreciation, the participants wore start number bibs carrying the Alpiq logo.
