Founded in 2002, Alpiq Energia Magyarország Kft. is one of the largest foreign companies in the Hungarian energy market. In 2003, the company was among the first to obtain a trading licence and to take part in border and generation capacity auctions in the partially liberalised electricity market. Atel's international portfolio increased the liquidity of the market and made a significant contribution to full liberalisation.The company focuses on strengthening its retail acivities in the fully liberalised market by offering customised services and solutions to end-customers. It also aims to reformat its portfolio by adding medium-sized end customers from a variety of industrial sectors to its current base of major industrial customers.The services the company offers, which include balancing group membership, access to the spot market, risk management etc., result in added value for the customers.

Atel Csepel Business
Energy for future generations
The Csepel Group provides Alpiq with a key business pillar in Hungary. The group consists of three companies: Alpiq Csepel Kft., Alpiq Csepeli Szolgáltató Kft., and Alpiq Csepeli Erőmű Kft. At the core of their activities is Csepel II, a modern, environmentally friendly gas-fired combined cycle power plant in south Budapest.
Built in 2000, Csepel II was the first power plant in Hungary to be funded by private capital. With a capacity of 403 MW it covers 6% of the country’s total energy requirements. In addition to selling heat to Hungarian industrial operations, the power plant supplies district heating to more than 19.500 apartments in south Budapest. The Csepel Group also sells natural gas and offers general energy-related services.

Alpiq Energy SE is part of the Swiss energy group Alpiq Holding Ltd. Alpiq Energy SE was created from the companies and subsidiaries of Atel Energy AG in EU-member states of Central and Eastern Europe. Alpiq Energy SE is one of the largest international energy trading companies in CEE.

Although wholesale sales is our main line of business, customers and partners can also benefit from other services including portfolio and risk management.
